Harvard University, founded in 1636, includes teaching and research programs in Arts and Sciences, Business, Design, Divinity, Education, Government, Law, Medicine, and Public Health. During the last decade, Harvard has encouraged the establishment of interfaculty initiatives that focus on society's most pressing challenges and that require a multidisciplinary approach. Recently, Harvard established a tenth teaching faculty: the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study.
