Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Postsecondary Preparedness Program
Focuses on preparing 6th-10th Latina youth and their mothers, academically, socially, emotionally, and financially for postsecondary education. Evidence-based, culturally relevant curriculum is delivered to the students in their schools during school days. Mothers and daughters attended weekend educational conferences and college campus tours hosted by Con Mi MADRE.
Postsecondary Participation Program
Education and support services provided to 11th and 12th grade Latina students and their mothers. Assistance is focused on the college application and enrollment process. Evidence-based, culturally relevant curriculum is delivered to students in their schools during school day. Mothers and daughters attend weekend educational conferences, college campus tour, and evening College Academies that provide hands-on guidance with college selection, college applications, financial aid, and college enrollment processes.
Postsecondary Success Program
Education and support services for Latina students enrolled in postsecondary education. Students attend 4 workshops annually, live or via web for those attending school outside the Austin area. Students receive one-to-one guidance counseling from trained staff. Scholarships available for ongoing educational needs.
Service Learning Programming
Provide education and opportunity to young Latinas to give back to their community. Students are challenged to 1) gain a better understanding of community needs, 2) work together to identify one community problem to address, and 3) develop a plan to address the problem and implement it.
Entre Mujeres
Social support groups specifically for Latina high school students. Focus is on developing coping skills, building self-esteem, raising expectations, and preparing to pursue higher education.
Parent Engagement
Programming specifically to support and encourage mothers of Latina youth to engage in their education. Programming includes monthly support groups and weekend education conferences.
