AUTISM RECOVERY FOUNDATION
Every child deserves a chance of recovery
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Roughly 15,378 children met the educational eligibility requirement for Autism Spectrum Disorder in 2011 (Minnesota Senate Autism Task Force, 2012). Many of these children are not receiving high quality, early intensive behavioral interventions and many children who receive services do not receive the adequate number of hours of therapy.
Autism Recovery Foundation is working to address this shortage in Minnesota by providing financial support to families who could not otherwise afford services and by building the workforce of qualified autism service professionals in our state.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
BCBA Scholarships
Scholarships of up to $1000 are awarded to students who are pursuing their Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) credential. Funds are raised through individual donations and through a fund raising event each year.
Canteen Grants
Canteen grants are grants awarded to families with children with autism who are enrolled in a program providing applied behavior analysis (ABA) treatment to those children. Small grants are awarded for supplies, equipment, services and supports needed by families

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Since its inception, Autism Recovery Foundation has built a strong coalition of parents and professionals working together to meet the needs of Minnesota families on the front lines of autism.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
In the next three years, Autism Recovery Foundation aims to continue building the coalition of ASD service providers while expanding our impact to more families:
Strategic targets include:
• Expanding our current ASD workforce scholarship program to accommodate more graduate students per year.
• Working with the State of Minnesota to develop a tuition assistance programs for individuals studying to provide ABA services.
• Expanding our current “Canteen Grant" financial assistance program to more families, particularly those being served in rural communities in Minnesota.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Since 2014 Autism Recovery Foundation has provided more than $40,000 in scholarships to individuals pursuing BCBA certification. Twice per year we provide $1000 scholarships to students who submit online application materials. Qualifications include: a current graduate study in Applied Behavior Analysis, demonstration of academic and community involvement, and recommendations from both professionals and professors on the applicant's commitment to serving Minnesota children with autism.
Applications are then reviewed by three Autism Recovery Foundation board members, one professor of Applied Behavior Analysis, one autism service provider, and one parent. Preference in the review process is given to any individual currently serving children in underserved and rural communities in Minnesota.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
As observed in November 2017, of the 33 students that have received scholarships from our program, 11 continue to pursue their graduate studies while 15 have become BCBA certified. 29 of the 33 scholarship awardees are still serving individuals with autism and developmental disabilities in Minnesota.
