To provide financial assistance in the nature of tuition payments to the General Fund of the school for the benefit of students whose parents are not financially able to pay the full tuition.
Each year the Foundation has been able to provide tuition assistance for the students of Lansing Christian School. Because of gracious supporters of the school, the LCS Foundation was able to reduce tuition by approximately $360 per student this school year.
The Lansing Christian School Foundation was created by the Board on December 27, 1984. It was designed to meet the long-term financial needs of the school. The Foundation does not place contributions directly into the operating budget but invests them for the future. Interest from those investments goes into the operating fund to help minimize tuition costs. The goal is to make Christian education available for all who want it. The first money placed into the Foundation in 1984 came from the sale of the former principal's house. When sold, the school received $69,500. The new Foundation created so much interest that, by the end of the first year, $89,900 had been received in gifts and bequests.
