Mission Statement

EarthShare's mission is to expand financial support of its member organizations' vital programs through individual charitable giving, and to encourage the involvement of individuals in protecting our natural resources for future generations. EarthShare's members work hard every day to safeguard public health and protect and preserve our air, water, land and wildlife. EarthShare was founded in 1988 by national, nonprofit environmental and conservation organizations to represent them in payroll contriubtion fundraising campaigns. EarthShare has affiliates in 19 states, representing more than 400 community and state environmental organizations, in addition to its national groups.

Kalman Stein has been President of EarthShare since its inception in 1989. During his first nine years, Mr. Stein helped increase the number of national member charities from 18 to 45. Through EarthShare's partnership with the Advertising Council, EarthShare has obtained more than $200 million in donated media support for its public service advertising campaign. Mr. Stein holds a B.A. and M.B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

EarthShare and its affiliates work to involve individuals and workplaces in supporting the charities that protect our health, well-being and natural resources. EarthShare connects supporters and the public with the news and engagement opportunities of its member charities and provides green lifestyle tips to thousands of recipients, offering simple ways people can change their habits to have a positive impact on our environment. EarthShare's annual report is also distributed to thousands and highlights the accomplishments made possible by our supporters. EarthShare's outreach includes a dynamic, interactive website, an info request email address, an weekly environmental quiz and a variety of educational and cause related partnerships.

EarthShare launched a new online presences offering s weekly roundup of our member organizations' good work and news of interest called The Environmental Ticker; A weekly environmental quiz to challenge your environmental knowledge; Green lifestyle tips to help you learn about making smart, healthy choices; and Event & volunteer opportunities to show you how to make a difference in your community by being proactive with the gift of your time.
