NCHV was established in 1990 by leaders of various community-based, nonprofit homeless veteran service providers. In 1993 NCHV opened its Washington, DC office to serve as a liaison between homeless veteran service providers, homeless veterans, Congress, Executive Branch agencies, other community-based organizations and the general public. Today, as in the past, NCHV remains steadfast to its original goal of informative representation, and the ongoing elimination of homelessness within the veteran community.
