Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
The Mountain View Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation (MVCoCED) has a singular purpose of providing educational scholarships, mentoring and leadership education for adults and rising college students who live and work in the city of Mountain View, California,
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
The Strategy of The Mountain View Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation (MVCoCEF) is two fold.
1. Leadership Mountain View (LMV): Helping Good People become great Leaders. To connect Mountain View community members, develop their leadership skills, and inspire them to be active and informed leaders.
LMV its goals by connecting students on many different levels:
Student-to-student networking
To the community, they live or work in
To the communities in need
To pathways for getting involved in local government
To speakers and companies
To the Chamber of Commerce
To the alumni of the program (27 years going and over 600 alumni)
2. Student Outreach and Advancement Resource (SOAR) reaches its goals through providing generous scholarships to raising college students from both local high schools and our community college in Mountain View.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We are capable of reaching our goals through annual fundraising, generous giving at Alumni events, and through the efforts of the Director of Leadership Mountain View as well as the staff of the Chamber of Commerce Mountain View. Additionally, volunteers from the community, specifically alumni from Leadership Mountain View give and chamber members, give their time to manage and advise on our biggest events.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Leadership Mountain View Progress: LMV has been instrumental in the development of numerous key players in Mountain View including but not limited to; Mayors, Council Members, Superintendents, Educators, as well as employees from the top local/global companies such as LinkedIn, Google, Microsoft, Intuit, and NASA. We connect people with the tools and knowledge to achieve their goals. We facilitate game-changing discussions about Diversity, Equity, Education, Government, Health, Media, Arts, and Public Safety. Students get a backstage pass to the interworking of Mountain View and the larger Silicon Valley. Graduates walk away with clarity about their leadership style, connection to a growing network of over 600 alumni, and introductions to key influencers in Mountain View. Investing in leaders that are passionate about their futures and the communities they live in is a pathway to success in business and beyond.
SOAR Progress: Has been able to offer an increasing number of scholarships each year as well as increasing the amount we are able to give each student. In the future, we hope to grow this program further and meet the needs of more students who dream of enrolling in college.
