Mission Statement
The mission of the Mariposa Museum is to bring the world to New England's doorstep by providing extraordinary programs and celebrations of world cultures.

7,315 people visited Mariposa or enjoyed programs off site in 2010. 2,661 students and teachers K-16 came to Mariposa in the 2010-2011 school year. The museum put on two rotating exhibitions: "Peoples of the North" (February - July, 2010) with 22 events, and "Southeast Asia" (September 2010-January 2011) with 22 events.

Program Description:
Exhibits of folk art and artifacts from one region of the world, with accompanying text and audio tour, drawn from the museum collection and loans from friends of the museum. Three exhibitions a year. Past themes: Africa; India, Tibet & Nepal; Japan, China & Vietnam; Russia, Eastern Europe & the Balkans; Latin America. Upcoming: Oceania; Native Americans; People of the North. Exhibitions include performances by people from the region: African drummers, for instance, for "Out of Africa".
