Mission Statement

Mission: radKIDS, Inc. is committed to providing education that enhances the ability of children, parents, and families to utilize knowledge, skills, and power to protect themselves from violence and harm.

In the late 1990's, a dedicated group of law enforcement professionals, self-defense experts and concerned parents joined forces in an effort to develop a children's safety education program that would, in a fun and interactive way, combine the essential elements of risk reduction strategies with physical skill options to avoid abduction. In May of 1998, after extensive research and development, the radKIDS Personal Empowerment Safety Education Program opened its doors. radKIDS is an innovative comprehensive safety education program for children ages 5-12. Since the organization's inception in 1998, radKIDS, Inc. has grown to an organization with over 3200 instructors nationally who have  provided the radKIDS Personal Empowerment Safety Education Program to more than 150,000 children across North America. As a result, statistics show that among children who have been radKID-trained, there has been a significant reduction in attempted assaults. In those instances in which assaults have been attempted, there has been a 100% successful escape rate. Nationally, radKIDS instructors have documented 64 foiled attempted abduction attempts and thousands of disclosures and escapes from sexual assault and sexual abuse.

Chief Executive

Mr. Stephen Daley

Chief Executive Profile:

Stephen M. Daley began his journey to radKIDS by entering the law enforcement field in Ogunquit, Maine in 1978. For the next 20 years, he held various positions from patrolman to Chief of Police. In 1985, after working as a police officer in Maine and Florida, Steve joined the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Department of Public Safety and rose to the rank of Night Commander. As an accomplished trainer and instructor, he was fortunate enough to participate in the training of over 5,000 police officers in officer survival skills, personal safety training and communications. Steve expanded his personal safety instruction when introduced to the RAD for Women program in 1993. As a RAD Instructor-Trainer and Staff Instructor, Steve assisted many instructors in bringing RAD for Women to their communities. He was one of the original members of the RAD Systems organization charged with the responsibility of developing the radKIDS program. While holding virtually every position available during his distinguished law enforcement career, Steve was successful in achieving most of his career goals, but he was never able to fully reach his true life's goal of helping children to escape violence. His involvement with the radKIDS foundational research and development committee convinced him that the radKIDS approach to empowering children had the potential to make a difference in thousands of children's lives. In 1999, with the support of his wife, Colleen, and son, Corey, Steve retired from law enforcement to become the Executive Director of radKIDS. Steve believes that every child has the right to realistic and empowering safety education, and it is our responsibility as adults and parents to provide it. Under his leadership, radKIDS has become the most comprehensive children's self-esteem and personal safety education program available today. Steve's diverse educational background includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Bryant College and a Master's Degree in Education from Cambridge College. Steve's Master's Degree included specialized concentrations in Elementary Education and Accelerated Learning Theories. Today, Steve continues to live his dream of empowering every child by promoting the radKIDS program from radKIDS headquarters in West Harwich, MA. He trains instructors across the country and travels extensively empowering communities with their own radKIDS programs. Most recently Steve formed an alliance with the Polly Klaas Foundation in California and has appeared on the America's Most Wanted television show to promote radKIDS.
