AmeriCares is a nonprofit global health and disaster relief organization, which delivers medicines, medical supplies and aid to people in need around the world and across the United States.  Since it was established in 1982, AmeriCares has delivered more than $10 billion in aid to 147 countries. AmeriCares provides immediate response to emergency and ongoing medical needs and supports long-term humanitarian assistance programs for people around the world, irrespective of race, creed or political persuasion.

Michael J. Nyenhuis joined AmeriCares in 2014 as its President and Chief Executive Officer. In this role, he leads a global organization with partners in 90 countries and an annual budget of approximately $500 million. He oversees offices in the U.S., India, Haiti, Japan and Sri Lanka and a network of free health clinics in AmeriCares home state of Connecticut. Previously, Nyenhuis was with global nonprofit MAP International since 1995, serving as its President and Chief Executive Officer from 2000 to 2014. A native of Minnesota, Nyenhuis holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay and a Master of Business Administration from Emory University.
