Mission Statement
Grist is an online news organization that uses humor to interpret green issues and inspire environmental action. If green were the norm, we’d have climate legislation in place. But people reject environmental information when it’s gloomy and makes them think they have to live in a yurt. So Grist is building a new movement by reaching 800,000 people a month who are redefining what it is to be green. This is not your parents’ environmentalism. Our readers are eager to learn about, discuss, and take action on the issues—Grist helps them do just that.Grist is an online news organization that uses humor to interpret green issues and inspire environmental action.

Chip Giller founded Grist in 1999.
