Jeremy Christopher Kohomban, Ph.D., is the President and CEO of The Children's Village and The Center for Child Welfare Research at the Children's Village Institute. Prior to The Children's Village, Dr. Kohomban was the Senior Vice President at Easter Seals New York and the President of the Washington DC-based National Association for Family-Based Services. Dr. Kohomban is a noted expert in child welfare and his leadership successes have been noted by the New York Times, NPR and industry publications. In their story discussing the child welfare crisis in New York, City Limits magazine identified Dr. Kohomban as a leader with a clear vision for the future. Dr. Kohomban has served on numerous boards of directors and he currently serves on the Boards of the Child Welfare Watch, New York City's Youth Advocacy Center, the Child Welfare Organizing Project, the Council of Family and Child Caring Agencies and the Washington DC-based American Youth Work Center, publisher of the periodical Youth Today. He has earned a reputation as a leader who effectively blends human services with accountability and a pragmatic business sense. He is the author of a number of articles and a nationally recognized speaker on topics of organizational leadership, system reform and family-focused service delivery.

Program Description:
The Children's Village provides short-term residential care for youth who have emotional, behavioral and/or educational problems; an innovative Crisis Residence that helps children avoid the stigma and trauma of psychiatric hospitalization; a supported housing program that helps homeless youth become self-sufficient and avoid long-term dependency on social services; two shelters and street outreach program that provides safety and support to Westchester teens who are runaways or street-involved; a drop-in center for at-risk youth; a nationally recognized program that teaches youth how to get and keep a job; adoptive and foster homes; immigration services for children who have come to our borders without guardians; a community center at the Polo Grounds housing development in Harlem; and is the primary provider in New York State of the evidence-based Multisystemic Therapy (MST) program, which has been shown to be one of the most cost-effective interventions for juvenile offenders, reducing recidivism in very high-risk youth and keeping children and families together.
Program Long-Term Success:
In 2011, The Children's Village (CV) was presented with the Council on Accreditation's Innovative Practices Award for new and forward looking practices that have raised the quality of services provided to vulnerable children and families. CV was recognized as "Agency of the Year" by the Alliance for Children and Families, June 2011 "Agency of the Month" by Nonprofit Press and, in 2010, the Child Welfare League of America and the Walker Trieschman Center selected CV as the recipient of the inaugural David Liederman Award, which recognizes innovation in leadership development and workforce practices. CV is accredited by the Council on Accreditation and the Better Business Bureau, fully meeting all 20 standards for charity accountability.
