Programs and services offered include various day programs, evening and weekend recreation programs, residential services, respite services, in-home habilitation services, and various support services for consumers and their families. With the guidance and support offered at AVSP, people of all ages find opportunities to achieve independence and self-fulfillment and are thus empowered to lead fuller lives.

Ms. Benoit envisions a society in which people with developmental disabilities are thoroughly and seamlessly integrated into the fabric of their communities. She has worked toward achieving this goal since starting her career in this field in 1969.

Program Description:

A vast array of offerings are available to consumers aged eighteen and over depending upon the needs of the individual and what they wish to achieve. Active community involvement and independence are promoted within the context of varied activities offered in these programs.  Day programs offer life-skill training, vocational training, and a program for seniors that promotes the development of leisure skills.

Program Description:

Outreach services are generally provided outside the setting of our program sites. These services “without barriers” assist families by giving them access to a wider breadth of alternatives, services, goals and even environmental aids. 

 

Service Coordination helps individuals and their families to identify needs, develop self-advocacy skills and obtain services and benefits. Routine consultations with consumers and families are conducted by qualified service coordinators to ensure a consumer’s individual choice is promoted and satisfaction is maintained.

 
Residential Habilitation aids children and adults in improving their daily living skills, maintaining abilities, and carrying over skills learned in school or program during one-on-one sessions in the family’s home.

 

Family Reimbursement provides financial support to individuals and their families for approved products and services.

Program: Recreational & Respite Services

Program Description:

Evening and weekend recreational services provided through the Community Center assist people to enhance their leisure and social skills in a secure environment outside the home, as well as in the community at large. Peer interaction is encouraged, as are personal growth and self-improvement through course modules that are selected by the participants.

Program Description:

Our residential settings are homes that offer individually tailored environments for people aged 18 and over. The personal and social development of each resident is encouraged to help facilitate self-reliance and independence. A full range of services is available. Supervision levels and personalized staff assistance are based on the unique needs of each individual.

 

• Supportive Living arrangements provide residential settings for adults who can live and work independently with minimal guidance and supervision. 

 

• Supervised Living settings provide a structured environment of 24-hour supervision, and can vary based on the needs of the residents.
