Impact Statement
- The Support Center has worked to change the way the sector thinks about and handles an executive transition. We are shifting the thinking of nonprofit boards from an orientation of the CEO transition as a “crisis”, to seeing it as an “opportunity” for structural realignment, resetting direction, and consideration of restructuring opportunities. [JL1] Through our ESTM services we reduce the risks of transition and increase the chances of future organizational success.
- Through our consulting services and public presentations, we are changing the way the nonprofit sector thinks about boards, shifting the orientation from boards as one dimensional (governance/oversight only), to an orientation of board as governors, ambassadors, and a team to fuel organizational support and advocacy.

Program Description:
Organizational Change Consulting – The Support Center focuses delivers affordable, effective, “Outcomes-Oriented” consulting services to nonprofits of all sizes and sectors in the Greater Tri-State Metropolitan area (NY/NJ/CT). These services are delivered by a pool of experienced, professionally-prepared consultants with an expansive range of skills and subject-matter expertise. The most frequently requested consulting services include strategic planning, organizational assessment, fundraising enhancement, and human resources management. Foundations and/or government entities often subsidize our services with a dual intent of investing in grantees to enable success while also minimizing barriers to access due to cost. The Support Center is the first management support organization in the NY/NJ area to study and offer Executive Search and Transition Management (ESTM) services for nonprofit organizations. Major research entities have predicted significant leadership turnover due to baby boomer retirement, a shortage of well-trained executive level nonprofit leaders, and increased demand for accountability. Executive Search and Transition Management services include comprehensive search, succession planning, interim executive director placement, executive coaching and on-boarding.
