Impact Summary from the Nonprofit
C&NN’s track record of accomplishments is
substantial: fostering and supporting a burgeoning national and international
grassroots movement; providing inspiring and effective thought leadership in
support of that movement; developing original seminal reports; synthesizing and
promoting related research; and providing non-partisan leadership and a vision
of a world that is better for children and their families, now and in the
future. C&NN has grown this movement from a handful of campaigns in 2006 to
more than 100 campaigns in 44 states involving diverse organizations and social
sectors. Approximately 3 million children and youth were engaged in
nature-based activities during 2011 through C&NN campaigns, up from 1
million in 2009, with a total of 8 MILLION CHILDREN AND YOUTH getting outdoors in nature with the help of
C&NN in 2009-2012. In the past two years, up to 3,000 new nature and
place-based opportunities for children have been established in areas served by
grassroots initiatives supported by C&NN, including community gardens for
children, nature clubs for families, natural play areas, neighborhood parks, school gardens, and trails.
