The Foundation's purpose is to seek and secure private funds to supplement MCC traditional revenue sources. Through ongoing efforts, it provides scholarship assistance, faculty enrichment programs, funding for equipment, and seed money for innovative programs.
Ms. Diane L. Shoger
Ms. Shoger joined the MCC Foundation as Director of Development and Major Gifts in 1999 overseeing two capital campaigns which raised over $19 million and secured eight gifts of $1 million+. She was promoted to Executive Director in 2008, and now manages a comprehensive and nationally recognized development program including annual and alumni giving, special events, planned giving and major gifts. Her work with major donors, corporations, community philanthropists, faculty and friends has helped to promote giving and increase the culture of philanthropy across MCC's campuses and throughout the Greater Rochester community.
Ms. Shoger has over thirty years experience at the senior management level and extensive experience in nonprofit management, including volunteer and board management, programming and implementation of successful donor cultivation, solicitation and fundraising events. Ms. Shoger received a M.S. degree in Educational Administration Foundations and a B.S. in Special Education from Illinois State University. Prior to joining the MCC Foundation, her expertise and skills were honed with the Special Olympics organization, first as Vice President of Program and then as Chief Operating Officer for the New York Chapter.
The American Dream starts at Monroe Community College.
Community Colleges enroll 6.5 million students - almost half of all undergraduates - and nearly 70% of community college students are enrolled in transfer programs. The rise in community college enrollment mirrors the demand for economic revitalization. By attracting talented, creative people with the intellectual firepower essential for growth, MCC helps translate knowledge in to jobs.
Every Bright Future Needs a Stong Foundation will provide financial assistance to students with unmet financial need, those demonstrating academic excellence and those seeking workforce training. Additionally, it will support program initiatives and unique opportunities for MCC students to learn and thrive.
And, most importantly, it will enable deserving students to achieve their educational dream and graduate from a degree or certificate program at MCC.
