Impact Statement

The lives of abused and neglected children are better when they have the support and advocacy of a CASA volunteer. Research shows children are safer while in foster care, have shorter stays in foster care and are reunified with their biological families more quickly, are more likely to receive appropriate and necessary services from child welfare agencies, and have lower re-entry rates in foster care and the child protection system. Kids who spend less time in the court system are substantially less likely to fall behind in school, become juvenile delinquents, commit crimes, or become abusers themselves. In short, CASA is a vital part of breaking the cycle of child abuse in our community.

We need to raise funds to cover the cost of the Volunteer Coordinators who have the expertise and training to oversee all of the CASA volunteer Advocates. For each 30 volunteer Advocates we recruit and train, by National CASA mandate, we must have one Volunteer Coordinator who accompanies Advocates to court hearings and advises them on matters ranging from concerns regarding their court involvement, medical issues and school issues, relationships with parents or caregivers, to mental health issues.
