Chris and Scott Coats have many years experience working in countries at risk and developing countries all over the world including Fiji, Samoa, Kosovo, Vietnam, and Cambodia.
"We began with a school project, but quickly learned that water was the first priority.
A person must have access to clean, potable water to improve health and sanitation. People must also have a water resource for growing their crops, livestock, and fish—the source of their food and commerce.
Bad water is the cause of illness, malnutrition, and poverty. Every year 60,000 Cambodian children die of preventable water borne diseases.
When there is good water, associated developments can occur to improve livelihoods and establish sustainable commerce."

Program Description:
Construction and distribution of a low tech bio-sand water filter occurs on the Trailblazer work site in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Bio-sand water filters reduce water borne illnesses by removing 96+% of bacteria, viruses, parasites, and iron. Please see our website for details.

Mosi Net Program: Supplied Mosquito Nets to families living in remote villages of Cambodia, where malaria and dengue fever is at 40% of population, with a high mortality rate amoung children.

Program Description:
Wells are greatly needed in the countryside. Most villagers use and transport water from long distances from deep holes in the ground. Having a well remedies one initial problem: access to water. Once a villager has access to a convenient and an ample water source they can begin to think beyond basic life-sustaining capacities. A well provides villagers the ability to irrigate gardens or create fish ponds, whereby improving their food supply, ultimately their health, and creates the opportunity for income from the sale of excess provisions.

Program Description:
Trailblazer has an on-site test garden used for experimenting with seed germination, vegetable growth, EM production, and organic fertilizer. We also implement a low tech drip irrigation system to rural village farmers to increase their vegetable growth.

Funding Needs
Our annual operations budget in Cambodia is approximately $30,000 per quarter. This supports 10 Cambodian staff and the material expenses to operate our Sustainable Development, Water Filter, Wells, Cambodia Assistance, and Agriculture programs. Undesignated funds give us the greatest flexibility to operate and manage our projects on a priority of need basis. The need for capacity building funds are increasing as our programs evolve.
