Chief Executive Profile:

Marilyn lives in Hood River, Oregon, is a graduate of the University of Michigan, and brings a wide variety of skills to her work with Unite 2 Fight Paralysis. She has many years of experience as a fundraiser, event planner, and volunteer coordinator for nonprofit organizations. She has also worked as a tax consultant, webmaster, and office manager in the for-profit world. When her son was paralyzed in 2002 by a wheel that flew off of an oncoming vehicle, her career took a turn toward advocacy for the paralysis community.  Marilyn is one of the co-founders of U2FP, and was recently appointed its first Executive Director.

CEO/Executive Director Statement:

We are committed to building the advocacy voice in the paralysis community, and believe that progress toward curative therapies will accelerate in direct proportion to consumer involvement.

Funding Needs

We raise $65,000 annually to fund our Science & Advocacy Symposium, Working 2 Walk (W2W).  W2W brings together leaders in the research, practitioner, and consumer advocate communities for a 2-day interactive exchange of information and ideas.  The 3rd day offers an accessible recreation opportunity for attendees, or when in Washington, DC, a Capitol Hill visit.  We also record the presentations at Working 2 Walk and make them available on our website at no charge.  Costs include recording, editing, and uploading.
