Impact Summary from the Nonprofit

The Dallas Jr Wheelchair Mavs use basketball as a tool to develop sportsmanship, social competence, and the self confidence necessary for children and teens with physical challenges to be dynamic members of their community.     The goal of the program is to offer a wheelchair basketball team for children with physical disabilities otherwise not offered in our local schools or community based programs. Youth sports develop confidence, offer a sense of achievement, and build leadership qualities, cooperation, agility, speed, strength, endurance and the ability to make decisions and accept responsibility for one's actions.  Sporting events provide a peer group of individuals in which children with similar strengths and weaknesses get together to discuss their world and problem-solve similar challenges.
