Parents and caregivers meet in small groups with a facilitator using the
Active Parenting Now video series to initiate discussion about each family’s individual strengths and challenges. Weekly group sessions include discussion, questions and answers, and sharing experiences.
Workshop topics include:
•Taking care of YOU, the caregiver
•Stress management
•Communicating with your child
•What your child needs to succeed
During the parenting group, children participate in recreation and fitness activities such as karate, swimming, or horticulture.
Upon completion of the six-week program, families receive a special reward to encourage the continuation of family fun time and wellness activities.
Parents Who Care is designed for parents and caregivers of children aged 5 through 12. All families in the Easton Area School District are welcome. Workshops are free and transportation may be provided.

Infants/Babies (under age 5)
Program Description:
The Parent-Child Home Program (PCHP) is an innovative, home-based literacy program that prepares children and families for school success. Children between 18 months and three years old who live in the Easton Area School District sending area are eligible to enroll in the program.
Our family literacy specialists visit participants’ homes twice a week for two years. During each visit, our staff use books, toys, and games to model for the parent or caregiver how to help their child learn how to read, count, and identify objects. Families keep the educational materials so that learning continues in the home after the visit is over.
In addition to home visits, PCHP students and their families explore the community as a group by visiting places such as the library, fire station, and zoo. Each year, PCHP families celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday and visit a local elementary school where the school nurse teaches the students about healthy habits.
The Parent-Child Home Program is a nationally recognized program and Family Connection is a certified replication partner. The program is based on the belief that parents are their children’s first and most important teacher. The Parent-Child Home Program is funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare and the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley Families must commit to participate for the entire two-year program. There is no cost to participate in PCHP.

Program Description:
Kindergarten Connection, formerly known as Success by 6 ®, is a community-wide initiative to help children successfully transition into kindergarten.
Our transition to kindergarten initiative helps children and families from Cheston, Paxinosa, Palmer, and March Elementary Schools prepare for a successful start in elementary school. Through this initiative we are working with the Easton Area School District to develop and implement a comprehensive transition plan, developing positive relationships between parents, daycares and preschools, and the school district, educating early childhood educators about the PA educational standards and the expectations of kindergarten teachers, and coordinating educational events for children and families.
Family Connection hosts an online community where early childhood educators and school district staff can interact to share ideas and information and do joint planning.
Success by 6 ® is a United Way initiative. Our transition program is funded by the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley.
