CEO/Executive Director Statement:
Global Connections is a group of peoples who are intentional and strategic about administering humanitarian aid. While many organizations attempt to do the same, few are able to operate under the following guidelines, which are core values at GC.
1. Many of our giving programs are 100% donor directed. We choose to fund raise separately to underwrite our operational costs so that more money will go to aid projects.
2. We thoroughly evaluate projects for their long-term impact on a community, positive and negative effects, and their integrity.
3. Our staff live in the communities in which we serve. Embedded in community life, our staff understand very intimately the needs and assets in the places they live.
4. We disagree with the charity-driven view of humanitarian aid, which reinforces the economic divide between the giver and recipient. We teach that everyone has needs that can be met by sharing the assets and gifts of the community.
5. Our goal is to change lives on both sides of an ocean. Trip goers become ambassadors who are committed to seeing long term change not just for the oppressed but for our own lost and searching souls.
