Mission Statement
Our mission is to help all deserving dogs of Great Pyrenees origin find good homes across the country. We do not distinguish between dogs that come from pet stores, puppy mills or breeders, and we do not discriminate against Pyr mixes. NGPR's sole purpose is to support Great Pyrenees rescue efforts so together we can all "Save More Pyrs".

Impact Statement
NGPR has facilitated the rescue and replacement of thousands of Great Pyrenees and Pyr mixes across the country and supports rescue operations in 40 states and Canada. Over a hundred dogs, available for adoption from Maine to Oregon, are listed on Petfinder and other adoption portals every week. An active owner surrender program intercepts dogs before they are turned into shelters and both an 800-adoption line and 800-shelter/surrender line support our organization's online line presence on our website, www.nationalpyr.org, Twitter and Facebook.

Funding Needs
The rescue and rehabilition of these large-breed dogs is very expensive. Everything costs more for a large dog--medications, medical care and food. Larger dogs are prone to orthopedic problems and the operations to correct these problems can cost in the thousands of dollars. NGPR maintains a "Neediest Cases" page on its website, to feature the animals needing additional support.
