Impact Statement
Children and families are at the center of everything we do. In 2010, we served over 800+ children and family members:
Residential Treatment
- 98 boys lived at the Home and received care in our Residential Treatment Program
- 57 boys either completed residential treatment or were discharged to another facility for additional services
- 75% of those completing eight months or more of residential treatment returned home to a relative or a foster home, or advanced to a less-restrictive setting
- 44 families of residents also took part in family counseling sessions
Community-Based Programs
- 348 children and siblings, parents, relatives, and other guardians received services in their homes through the Family Preservation, Reunification, and Out-of-Home Care Diversion programs
Family Preservation and Family Reunification
- 63 families with 121 children at risk of removal completed Family Preservation or Family Reunification services
- 98% of these children remained in the home at the close of services
- Of families contacted following the close of services, 94% of children at risk remained in the home 6 months later
- 100% of clients surveyed reported improved family functioning
Out-of-Home Care Diversion Project
- 227 children, each at risk of removal, completed services
- 91% of these children remained in the home at the close of services
- Of families contacted following the close of services, 91% of children at risk remained in the home 6 months later
- 90% of clients surveyed reported improved family functioning

Program Description:
Residential Treatment
An individualized treatment solution for abused and neglected boys
A personalized therapeutic treatment plan in a safe, temporary living environment for up to 30 abused and neglected boys with severe emotional, behavioral, and social problems. Extensive treatment groups provide children help in addressing self-esteem, victimization and sexual abuse/offender issues.
Community Based Family Services
Nurturing and strengthening families in times of struggle
Intensive in-home family treatment programs designed to provide support in resolving family issues to keep families safely together where children are in imminent risk for out-of-home placement.
Adoption Home Studies
Assisting with smooth adoption transitions
Adoption Home Studies provide couples and individuals wishing to adopt children with a comprehensive home assessment, adoptive information and referrals, home study updates and post-placement services.
The Children's Home of Northern Kentucky is a treatment-oriented child caring facility licensed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
