Mission Statement

Best Day Foundation helps children with special needs build confidence and self-esteem through safe, fun, adventure activities like surfing, bodyboarding, kayaking, outrigger canoeing, SUP, snow-tubing, and more. Please join us in creating special days for kids with Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Blindness, Cancer, Spinal Cord Injuries, and other physical and developmental challenges!

Impact Statement

Best Day has built and empowered chapters in New Jersey, Ventura, CA and Dana Point, CA. In 2010 Best Day served 475 children with special needs in 15 beach and snow events in NJ, CA, and NY. These events generated more than 7,630 community service hours (valued at $159,085 ) from approximately 827 volunteers of all ages, many volunteering multiple times. The events also provided over 1,756 hours of caregiver respite. In 2011 Best Day will grow to host 20-24 events across all chapters. So far this has all been accomplished with no paid staff.

Max has held a wide range of technical roles from designing award-winning software to providing training to Fortune 500 companies. At Education Training and Research (ETR) Associates, a non-profit specializing in health education, his efforts helped them computerize and streamline manual and inefficient processes, paving the way for rapid growth and expansion. As Chief Evangelist for a CA-based software startup, he helped design and market technology and software services that enabled the company to win numerous awards including Fortune Magazine’s Top 12 Coolest Companies, Network World Blue Ribbon, and PC Magazine Editor’s Choice. Max is currently a consultant working with tech companies such as PayPal and Juniper Networks.
 
He's also a long time volunteer and board member of the award-winning Ride a Wave program in Santa Cruz, the inspiration for Best Day.
