Mission Statement
The Mission of Africa Windmill Project is to teach farm irrigation in Malawi using sustainable, low-cost, low-tech windmills constructed with locally found materials to enable year-round food production. There is a need for irrigation because rainfall only occurs 3 months a year, significantly limiting the growing season. Malawians suffer from malnutrition because of their inadequate food supply. Current irrigation methods are very expensive or extremely labor intesive. All of the aforementioned problems have also impacted the population with HIV because the malnourished are not eligible to take the antiretroviral medications.
