Program:
Extending life changing education to girls and women in rural India
- Budget:
-

- Category:
-
- Population Served:
-
Female Youth/Adolescents (14 - 19 years)
-
Female Adults
Program Description:
Girls in rural India have adult responsibilities—but no authority. Arranged marriages before age 18, and as young as 13, are still common. Discrimination, abuse, and deeply entrenched attitudes combine to deprive them of education, health care, and support.
Reach Global supports a
network of social entrepreneur trainers across the poorest states of rural
India. These certified entrepreneurs train thousands of local organizations to
deliver Reach’s life skills education on critical themes of health, livelihoods
and family finance to millions of women and adolescent girls in self-help
groups to save and find solidarity and solutions to daily problems. Together,
these girls and women—daughters and mothers—learn, save and envision a better
future.
This program gives girls in the impoverished states of eastern
India practical, decision-making skills and vital information about their
health and finances, while increasing their solidarity with other girls and
women.

Request for In-Kind Contributions
Given the important role that Reach Global's technical specialists play in building the capacity of local organization trainers and other staffs, traveling to key locations in Asia, Africa and Latin is an important and necessary expense for the organization. Thus, frequent flyer program miles are a very helpful means of the supporting the organization.
