- Category:

- Population Served:
-
Children Only (5 - 14 years)
-
Children and Youth (infants - 19 years.)
Program Description:
This project was created in response to the unfortunate economic climate that our country continues to endure. Many local children of unemployed parents experience a desperate need of food and clothing. Children should not have to suffer from perpetual hunger and a lack of basic needs. Their suffering directly affects their self-esteem and the adults they will become. By providing them with food and clothing, we will ensure them security that will transform into self-assurance.
How can you help?
By donating nutritional food, diapers, and new or used children’s clothing.
You can also volunteer by contacting friends, shops, restaurants, and supermarkets to ask for donations.
How it gets distributed:
We identify local needy families each week and personally deliver the Baskets of Hope to them.
*Food should be non-perishable and have a valid expiration date.

Haiti Kitchen for the Orphans

Children and Youth (infants - 19 years.)
Program Description:
ONE Children’s Foundation has been working in Haiti since the twelfth day after the catastrophic earthquake. Our main goal is to build a large commercial kitchen from the ground up in the town of Leogane, which is one of the most affected cites in Haiti. More than 90% of the city was destroyed by the 7.1 magnitude earthquake.
Now more children are orphans than ever before. There are about 30 orphanages in the Leogane and surrounding areas, though most lie in ruins…
ONE Children’s Foundation, goal is to deliver much needed daily nutritional meals to the children in the surrounding orphanages.
What we need to make this possible:
Buy land for the kitchen
Hire an attorney to handle legal matters
Hire an engineer
Hire other Haitian workers as needed
Build a commercial kitchen with a large warehouse to store food and supplies
Build 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms for staff to live in
Purchase kitchen appliances and furniture
Buy a food delivery truck in the US and ship it to Haiti
Build a water well with a filtering system
Hire necessary staff to run the kitchen (which would include one driver, one security guard, and two cooks).
We are looking for generous, warm-hearted donors who can make this much-needed project a reality. Your help will change and touch the lives of countless children each and every day. Although help has arrived in Haiti due to the efforts of numerous organizations worldwide helping with earthquake relief, hunger and starvation continue to be a large problem. Though starvation among Haitian children, in most cases, did not result from the earthquake itself, hunger in Haiti remains a persistent epidemic that requires our attention.
As we approach getting ready to rebuild the Leogane orphanage, we can, at the same time, use some of the same resources and contacts (such as engineers, construction workers, etc.) to minimize costs.
Make an in-kind donation or become the main sponsor of this project.
Sponsor benefits include:
A plaque with your name as a sponsor in the orphanage kitchen
Worldwide press releases and a press conference at the beginning of the project with another one upon completion.
A food delivery truck containing your logo on the exterior of the vehicle.
A permanent placement of your logo on the ONE Children’s Foundation website with a link to your company website.
