Moving just 10% of individual giving away from under-performing to top-notch charities means a $25 billion annual enhancement of strong charitable services. It creates:

  • Enhanced health, education, human services, arts, humanities, environmental and other services for those in need.
  •  A raising of the performance bar for all charities, fostering the improvement or elimination of ineffective charities.
  • Stronger results for all donors (individuals, foundations and corporations alike).
  • More effective use of the time and energies of volunteers.
  • More than $4 billion stronger use of the federal income tax revenues allocable to the charitable contribution deduction.

 $25 billion is

  • Six times the total annual giving of the 60 top American donors ($4.2 billion).
  • More than 1.7 times total annual corporation giving ($14.1 billion).1
  • More than 65% of total annual giving of all U.S. foundations ($38.4 billion).
  • More than 125,000 times the projected annual budget of SGO.

Program Description:

www.SeriousGivers.org (SGO) is the sole program of SeriousGivers. SGO is the independent online community helping donors find and support top-notch charities. 

SGO provides

  • A charity database with information on more than 330,000 Public Charities.
  • Charity evaluation metrics on charity spending, reserve levels, compensation arrangements and fundraising efficiency.
  • Interactivity (registered users can add charity information, and ask questions, provide answers and share experiences through the Serious Givers Forum).
  • Extensive donor education and consumer protection content; teaching users how to research charity information, compare charities, create strong relationships with their selected charities, and much more.
  • Donor tools, where a donor can list and track charities, track the donor’s giving, and focus on causes that matter to the donor.
  • Information on charity outputs and outcomes, important aspects of a complete evaluation of charity results.
  • A free and independent resource, separate from the charities covered (SeriousGivers.org does not serve as a donation portal for charities, does not accept charity or commercial advertising and does not accept other revenue from covered charities).
