Impact Statement
Acadiana Ways' efforts arise from on-going concerns which address the distress of members of the public concerning the loss of cultural origins preservation within each new generation of the public and how to educate on improved cultural and ethnic awareness on valid religious, cultural and civil rights issues while stimulating economic, religious, cultural and civil benefit for the individual and the public by improving individual well-being and serving public purposes. PUBLIC LAW 94-201 defines the term "American folklife" as the traditional expressive culture shared within the various groups in the United States: familial, ethnic, occupational, religious, regional; expressive culture includes a wide range of creative and symbolic forms such as custom, belief, technical skill, language, literature, art, architecture, music, play, dance, drama, ritual, pageantry, handicraft; these expressions are mainly learned orally, by imitation, or in performance, and are generally maintained without benefit of formal instruction or institutional direction. Acadiana Way is here to address those public concerns on a charitable, literary, educational and religious basis on behalf of cultural origins preservation for that which was generally maintained without benefit of formal instruction or institutional direction.

CEO/Executive Director Statement:
Acadiana Way believes that by providing for the cultural, religious, literary and educational needs of the public, the quality of life will improve, including the underprivileged section of society, which will result in an uplift of society by the promotion of the happiness and general welfare of the people and a lessening of the burden upon the government. Similarly as on January 2nd 1976 the United States Congress declared that it was in the interest of the general welfare of the Nation to preserve, support, revitalize, and disseminate American folklife traditions and arts when they enacted PUBLIC LAW 94-201. There it is stated that the diversity inherent in American folklife has contributed greatly to the cultural richness of the Nation and has fostered a sense of individuality and identity among the American people, and that in order to contribute to an understanding of the complex problems of the basic desires, beliefs, and values of the American people in both rural and urban areas, while primarily a matter for private and local initiative, is also an appropriate matter of concern to the Federal Government and that it is in the interest of the general welfare of the Nation to preserve, support, revitalize, and disseminate American folklife traditions and arts. Likewise the Louisiana Constitution states the right of the people to preserve, foster, and promote their respective historic linguistic and cultural origins is recognized and was further publically validated by the report “The Impact of the Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism on Louisiana's Economy and Quality of Life for Louisiana's Citizens” issued in response to a Request for Proposal (RFP) from the Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism and the Office of the Lieutenant Governor, dated May 17, 2004, which stated that 78-80% of Louisiana residents believe that historic preservation and arts are important and should be high priorities.
