Impact Statement

While we did not have funding from the inception of our foundation until 2010, in that year we have begun to gratefully receive widespread public support.  Our projects now include educational activities (for example, a 5th-grade curriculum on the Constitution) programs (such as an American Independence Day celebration on the street in Santa Ana, CA including passing out Spanish-language copies of the US Constitution as well as American Flags) and litigation (such as defending an Army officer being court-martialled for refusing orders that violate the US Constitution).

Margaret Hemenway

Term:

Since Apr 2010

CEO/Executive Director Statement:

We agree with US Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia view of a "dead", as opposed to a "living" Constitution.  We have taken up his challange to teach Americans about the need to interpret the Constitution according to its original understanding.  He wrote, "It is no easy task to wean the public, the professoriate, and (especially) the judiciary away from such a seductive and judge-empowering philosophy [as the interpretative philosophy of a 'living' Constitution']".
