Mission Statement

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Cincinnati provides a supportive "home away from home" for families and their children who are receiving treatment at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center or other area hospital. Ronald McDonald House Charities also awards grants to local not-for-profit organizations serving children through a portion of donations received from McDonald's customers and Global Ronald McDonald House Charities' matching funds.

Program Description:

To provide and maintain a supportive "home away from home" for families of seriously ill children receiving treatment at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center or other area hospitals. Families can contribute the suggested daily donation of $24 to the House, but no one is ever turned away for an inability to contribute. (The actual cost to provide a room and all of the amenities is $90 per day.) Our House servers all ages, socioeconomic levels and races, welcomes all families who need a warm caring environment in which to rest so they can better support their children's healing. In 2010, we cared for 1,219 families with an average length of stay of 23 days and an occupancy rate of 95%.

Program Description:

Makes grants from $500 to $5,000 on behalf of McDonald's and RMHC - Global to tax-exempt Code Section 501(c) (3) organizations which benefit children in the areas of heath care, medical research, safety, civic and social services and education and the arts. In 2010, grants were made for music programs, equipment, camps, summer reading programs, counseling programs and other programs to support children.

Volunteer Needs

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Cincinnati relies heavily on volunteers to help operate the House and support our guest families. We are always looking for Guest Services Volunteers, Meals and Activties Volunteers as well Special Projects/Events Volunteers. Please contact our Director of Volunteer Services for details.


Request for In-Kind Contributions

We could not provide the level of care that our families who are in crisis need without the support of the community. We rely on in-kind donations to operate our House. We are in constant need of tall kitchen trash bags, all sizes of food storage bags, disinfectant wipes and sprays. Please see our Wishlist for a more detailed listing of in-kind iitems for which we always have need.
