Mission Statement
Cincinnati Public Radio’s mission is to bring the finest classical music and news and information programming to the people of the Tri-State. We accomplish this via the operation of a variety of over-the-air radio broadcast services and on-line Internet streams and on-demand downloads.
In order to carry out this mission on WGUC, we shall:
1. Introduce fine classical music to the largest possible audience while bringing a new generation of listeners into the WGUC family.
2. Produce programming to satisfy every listener's level of classical music appreciation.
3. Provide listeners with current information on community arts activities and broadcasts of local classical music performances.
4. Generate the funding needed to execute this mission not only on a year-to-year basis, but also well into the future.
In order to carry out this mission on WVXU and WMUB, we shall:
1. Produce information and entertainment programming for an audience that is engaged, curious and socially conscious.
2. Provide listeners with high quality news, information about important local issues, current information on community activities, and broadcasts of important local public affairs significance.
3. Generate the funding needed to execute this mission not only on a year-to-year basis, but also well into the future.

Impact Statement
Cincinnati Public Radio, Inc. is the broadcast license holder for 90.9 WGUC and 91.7 WVXU, serving the Greater Cincinnati community with the finest in classical music, news, information, and entertainment programming.
90.9 WGUC broadcasts classical music 24 hours a day. WGUC was the first public radio station in Ohio to broadcast a digital HD RadioTM signal and became one of the first stations in the nation to receive FCC authorization to experiment with FM multicasting. The station now offers two digital channels: classical music on WGUC HD 1 and fulltime jazz programming on WGUC HD 2.
In addition, WGUC broadcasts many local musical events including the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra concerts, The Cincinnati May Festival and Cincinnati Opera seasons. The station also currently produces and distributes The 90 Second Naturalist and Classics for Kids® nationally.
91.7 WVXU became a part of Cincinnati Public Radio on August 22, 2005. The station broadcasts news and information programming from its team of award-winning journalists, as well as national and international sources including National Public Radio, American Public Media, Public Radio International and the BBC. The schedule also includes classic radio, jazz, swing and blues programs.
WVXU also broadcasts a digital HD RadioTM signal, providing its high quality news and information programming on WVXU HD1 and programming from the BBC on WVXU HD 2.
On March 1, 2009, Cincinnati Public Radio entered into a Local Management Agreement with Miami University to operate 88.5 WMUB, preserving public radio service for the Miami Valley.

Richard Eiswerth, President and General Manager, draws upon his vast knowledge of the public radio industry, keen interest in public affairs, and deep appreciation for the fine arts as he leads WGUC and WVXU in the new digital age. Prior to joining Cincinnati Public Radio in 1998, he served as Station Manager at WMNF-FM in Tampa and held position with the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and National Public Radio. As Cincinnati Public Radio enters its new era with two broadcast services, he has WGUC and WVXU well-positioned to thrive in a digital future full of unprecedented challenge and opportunity.

Program Description:
More than 110,000 listeners each week tune to 90.9 fm for classical music. In addition, WGUC broadcasts many local musical events including the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra concerts, The Cincinnati May Festival, and Cincinnati Opera seasons. WGUC also introduces a new generation to classical music through its broadcast and educational program "Classics for Kids." Daily, the station serves as a friendly reference guide to Greater Cincinnati's vibrant and extensive cultural life.
More than 150,000 people tune to 91.7 WVXU to listen to its line-up of news and information programs from local, national and international sources including National Public Radio, American Public Media, Public Radio International and the BBC. The schedule also includes classic radio, jazz, swing and blues programs.
Program Long-Term Success:
In its third year as a fulltime classical music station, WGUC has demonstrated its audience's satisfaction with 24-hour access to classical music. In Spring 2008, WGUC's listeners spent an average of 8.5 hours per week with the station - a measure much higher than the typical public radio station and a number unprecedented in the station's history. 91.7 WVXU also saw record audience numbers in 2008 with its highest market share (3.6) and time spent listening (6.7 hours) in history.
