Impact Statement
Families are stronger when they are together, and their presence helps a sick child heal faster and cope better. While we cannot make medicine taste better or take away painful treatments, we can help lessen the burden and ensure families have the stability and resources to get and keep their child healthy and happy.
Our Ronald McDonald House is a home away from home families who need to stay close to their hospitalized child. Our Ronald McDonald Family Room offers a place for families to rest and regroup right at the hospital, close to their sick child. Our
Tools for Today and Tomorrow program helps families and professionals connect to the resources they need to care for children with special needs or chronic illness.
Between these three programs RMH of Cleveland supported over 4,000 families in 2009, all because of the love and generous donations of our donors and volunteers.

Program Description:
1.) The House - a 37 room facility with several spacious common areas and 2.5 acres of green space, the community living dynamic of the House truly makes it a home away from home, each year the House serves an average of 1,200 families. Despite the wide array of amenities, families are asked to pay only $20 a night, and no family has ever been, or will ever be, turned away due to inability to pay. Each year, RMH experiences nearly $110,000 in uncollected revenue due to deferred or waived payments. Thanks to the generosity of nearly 100 volunteers that provide more than 15,000 hours of service, RMH families receive comfort, support and compassion that far surpasses any hotel or shelter - the House truly is a home for these families.
2.) Family Rooms - a bit of home within the walls of a hospital, the Family Room is a brief respite for families to use while remaining merely steps away from their child's bedside. Currently, RMH operates the only Family Rooms in the State of Ohio at: University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital, Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital, Fairview Hospital and MetroHealth Medical Center. Over 200 Family Room volunteers provided almost 15,000 hours of service.
3.) Tools for Today and Tomorrow - The mission of the Tools for Today and Tomorrow program (Tools) is to improve life's journey for children with chronic illnesses or disabilities by providing information and support to the people who care for them. Tools is the result of collaborative efforts of 25 organizations in the Greater Cleveland area working toward the common goal of linking families and professionals to resources and support that are important to the overall well being of children with chronic illnesses or disabilities, regardless of diagnosis. Tools is an official, award winning program of RMH. Along with topic-specific conferences, workshops and seminars, the website www.toolsfortday.org serves as a clearinghouse for families and professionals to find resources and the information that allows them to have a stronger voice for the children they care for.
