Mission Statement

To create a hunger free West Central Ohio by soliciting and providing food and grocery products to approved distribution agencies; increasing public awareness of domestic hunger and advocating for public policies that eliminate this problem.

Program Description:

The local Backpack Program attempts to reduce child hunger, educate students on proper nutrition and promote healthy lifestyles. Each weekend, qualifying children receive nutritious foods to supplement weekend meals at home. This program is designed to provide extra support during weekends for children who typically receive free or reduced priced breakfast and lunch at schools.

Program Description:

This program is provided to approximately 225 eligible participants throughout the Lima area. Eligible participants must be 50 years of age and older and fall within 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. This program is partially funded by United Way of Greater Lima.

Program Description:

Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) provides a 32-40 lb box of shelf stable foods along with a 2 lb block of cheese to eligible participants throughout our 11 county service area. Eligible participants must be 60 years of age and older and fall within 130% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. This program currently is provided to 1,383 eligible participants throughout our service area.

Program Description:

Our volunteers come from all walks of life: church groups, employment agencies, municipal court, local companies, senior citizen groups and more. Volunteers help with everyday operations and special projects. Opportunities range from general cleaning, loading agency vehicles, repacking bulk foods, packing bags for the Backpack Program or Senior Boxes, to answering phones and helping with mailings.
