Impact Statement

The Gathering Place believes: In completing the circle of care by integrating conventional medical treatment with psychosocial support. In the importance of community. By creating a safe home-like environment participants can feel free to share experiences and challenges while gaining a spirit of hope. That by taking an active role in the treatment process and by learning to manage stress in our lives we will increase our capacity to face the challenges cancer presents. Our primary purpose should be the improvement of quality of life regardless of prognosis. That knowledge is power and that the more we know about our disease the better we will be able to control some of its impact on our lives. In the concept of "wellness" as a guiding principle. Programs and services will be provided with a focus on healing the mind, body and spirit. In offering our services to all individuals with cancer and their support network regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation. That all programs should be provided by trained, licensed professionals who provide services that meet the highest therapeutic standards. It is not our role to offer medical or religious guidance, recommendations, or referrals.
