Mission Statement
Founded in Evanston, Illinois in 1923, The Cradle is an accredited, not-for-profit, nonsectarian adoption and child welfare agency, licensed to complete adoptions throughout the state of Illinois. The Cradle’s mission is to benefit children… by providing education, guidance and lifelong support to create, sustain and preserve nurturing families. The Cradle provides ethical, high quality programs and services for birthparents, adoptive parents and adopted persons, as well as medically skilled, 24-hour onsite nursery care for infants whose birthparents are considering an adoption plan. More than 15,000 children have become cherished members of Cradle families in the organization’s decades-long history.
The Cradle Foundation, a distinct yet interdependent 501(c)(3) organization, was created in 2003 to raise and manage funds in support of The Cradle.
