Impact Statement

HSP receives government funding for a small percentage of only one of its four programs.  Its administrative expenses for FY2008 were 3.3%, and it received a 4-Star rating from Charity Navigator for the fourth consecutive year.  Despite a 30% reduction in donations due to the effects of the economy on individual donors, it has been able to maintain the quality of its food offerings in the programs which emphasize nutrition, the Senior Citizen Project which delivers a monthly food package to poverty-level seniors who have limited access to transportation and few local family ties; and Feed the Kids, a summer program which supplements the diets of schoolchildren for whom subsidized school meals provided most of their daily nutrition.
