Chief Executive
Ms. Amy Rasmussen
Term:
Since
Sept
2007
Chief Executive Profile:
Amy Rasmussen joined CAPE in 2000
and now serves as its Executive Director. She has overseen the development, implementation, and
publication of several studies on CAPE’s work that demonstrated significant
impacts on student learning, teacher capacity building, and school
improvement. A recent study showed
that arts integration implemented over three-years lead to significant academic
gains for all students and to a reduction in the achievement gap among 6th
grade students. Under her tenure, CAPE quadrupled its budget and the number of
schools served. In July 2011,
President Barack Obama and the White House Office of Public Engagement named
Ms. Rasmussen as a “Champion of Change” in Arts Education.
Amy holds an M. A. in Arts
Entertainment and Media Management from Columbia College and a B. A. in Music
from DePaul University. She is on the Advisory Board for the Chicago Arts
Educators’ Forum, Ingenuity Incorporated, the Union League Club of Chicago’s
Safe Youth Chicago Initiative, and the Marian Catholic High School Metro
Chicago Alumni Association. She also serves on the Board of Directors for The
Orange School – an arts-based charter school in Chicago.
