Mission Statement
<p>The Joyce Foundation supports policies that improve the quality of life for people in the Great Lakes region and that can serve as models for the country. Our efforts are focused on addressing today’s most pressing problems while also shaping the public policy decisions critical to achieving long-term solutions and creating opportunity. The work is based on sound research and aimed at areas where we can add the most value. <p >The Environment Program seeks to protect the Great Lakes and promote energy efficiency in the Midwest through common-sense and cost-effective policies and programs. The Program pushes for energy efficiency measures that are less expensive than generating more power. Within the Lakes themselves, efforts are concentrated on three interconnected issues: preventing the introduction and spread of aquatic invasive species; eliminating polluted runoff from cities and farms; and advancing and defending key state, regional, and federal Great Lakes policies and funding.<p> </p><p> </p><br /><br />

The Gun Violence Program works with law enforcement, policy makers, and advocates to reduce the toll of gun violence on families and communities.<em> </em>By increasing public understanding of important gun laws and elevating the voice of law enforcement officials, the Foundation works to ensure that thoughtful, accurate research and the voices of citizens are included in anti-violence policy discussions.
