Evidence of Impact

There are no summaries available for this organization.

The Foundation has been instrumental is targeting a population (low-skilled adult workers) that, until recently, has not been widely discussed in policy circles. Moreover, the programmatic focus has been developing a career pathway, not necessarily job placement. Additionally, the Foundation stresses the use of data and information in making the policy case of why it is important to focus on low-skilled adult workers by ensuring the funded programs have a communication and media outreach to the highest levels of the policy decision-making. Researcher and Faculty
They not only a focus on their local area but have expanded their influence to the Midwest. They were integral in being the FastTRAC initiative in MN- programs working with colleges, ABE, and Workforce to help adult learners move forward in their careers. Other
The Joyce Foundation's Shifting Gears Initiative is their evidence of impact in the field of workforce development. Other

Organizational Strengths

There are no summaries available for this organization.

The Foundation has capable leadership at different levels. This respondent, however, has had limited contact. Within that, the staff was responsive, easy to deal with, and prompt in answering many questions when this respondent was a grantee. Also, the staff has to be commended on effectively managing multiple states, a variety of consultants, and a diverse set of organizations. Researcher and Faculty
They have an excellent vision, and excellent oversight of grantees. Other
Shifting Gears has brought about substantial policy changes to support collaborative, cross-system career pathway programming for low-skilled, low-wage adults in the Midwest. Major education and workforce development changes have occurred across MN, WI, and IL because of this multi-year, dedicated work. Joyce is committed to bringing technical assistance to their grantees at a scale I've never seen before. Other

Areas for Improvement

There are no summaries available for this organization.

Joyce is hands on at a very high level. It would be interesting to have them be connected more to the local work but that's probably unrealistic given the number of projects they fund. Other
