Mission Statement

The Illinois Prairie Community Foundation is a charitable foundation formed to make a positive difference in the quality of life in the McLean County area and to help donors achieve their charitable goals. We bring donors and needs together. We build permanent funds to serve area needs. Our field-of-interest funds cover arts and culture, community development, education, environment, health and wellness, human services, and youth. We provide both designated/agency and donor advised fund services. We also provide fiscal sponsorship services for local charitable projects. For GOOD, For EVER.

Chief Executive Profile:

Myra Gordon became the permanent Executive Director in 2008 after filling the position on a temporary basis for 5 months. She served as Vice President of the Board of the Foundation. She is a State Farm retiree and held an administrative postion as the Executive Director of Operation Recycle. Myra has extensive volunteer experience having served as co-president of the McLean County League of Women Voters, treasurer of the Illinois Recycling Association, and  
as a board member of the Illinois Environmental Council and the Ecology Action Center. Myra has a MS in Technical Communication from Illinois State University and a BS in Sociology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Program Description:

Community Foundation of McLean County provides educational programs for donors and for not-for-profit organizations regarding endowments and charitable planning. We serve as a resource for planned giving information. We work closely with the local Leave A Legacy educational initiative to encourage donors to include a charitable bequest or planned gift in their financial planning. We serve as a convenor for discussing and planning solutions to meet area needs.
