Mission Statement

The mission of Breast Cancer Recovery is to provide environments for women breast cancer survivors to heal emotionally.

Impact Statement

Breast Cancer Recovery sponsored nine Infinite Boundaries Retreats in 2010.  Retreats were held in a variety of locations throughout Wisconsin.  Three specialty retreats were held for women with metastatic disease and one for young breast cancer survivors.  In addition to retreats, an educational conference is held each year for women to hear about the latest in medical advances for breast cancer and to learn life skills.

Nina Miller, MSSW, OSW-C

Nina has an extensive history in serving the psychosocial needs of individuals impacted by cancer. She has a clinical background in medical social work and was a fellow for the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland and the University of Iowa Comprehensive Cancer Center in Health Communications and Information. She worked for the University of Wisconsin Comprehensive Cancer Center as Manager, Cancer Information Service and at the American Cancer Society as Patient Services Director where she was responsible for the oversight of the Patient Navigator Program throughout a four state area.

 

Most recently, Nina was employed by the American College of Surgeons - Commission on Cancer in Chicago where she was responsible for directing and managing a network of over 1600 physician volunteers who represented the Commission on Cancer in cancer centers throughout the U.S.

 

Nina holds a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She holds an Advanced Practice Social Worker License and is Oncology Social Work – Certified.

CEO/Executive Director Statement:

Breast Cancer Recovery's Infinite Boundaries Retreats provide environments that can and do transform women.  After diagnosis and treatment for breast cancer, women often experience challenges such as a fear of recurrence, body image disruption, sexual dysfunction, anxiety or feelings of vulnerability.  Retreats guide women as they address these challenges and begin their survivorship jouney having healed emotionally and after learning new life skills that promote healthy living.
