We teach people how those drugs affect the health and healing of their brains, bodies, feelings and relationships.   The program is designed for: Those who can benefit from a slower-paced, more individually-focused program. People living with cognitive disabilities such as brain injury, developmential disability, and/or physical disability. Individuals with co-occuring disorders. Those who have had difficulty succeeding in traditional chemical dependency treatment programs or those who have relapsed and need a new approach.

Category:

Population Served:
Adults

Substance Abusers (Drug/Alcohol Abusers)

Program Description:

Independent living for adults with cognitive disabilities in recovery from substance abuse who need minimal amounts of support to remain independent. Vinland manages three homes (called lodges) in the northwestern suburbs of Minneapolis. Lodge living is ideal for men and women on a fixed income who can benefit from the extended support network offered by the lodges. Residents share in running the household, including chores like purchasing groceries and preparing meals. Residents make their own house rules and manage their own activities and finances. LivingWorks’ lodges are up-to-date and well-maintained homes in established residential communities. Each lodge is conveniently located near shopping and public transportation. The lodge features shared common areas to ensure a community atmosphere, providing residents with the opportunity to establish friendships and reinforce the network of support that is so important for lodge residents. Lodges are unique among similar supportive housing options because each resident has a private bedroom and bathroom. On-site staff serve as advisors to the lodge and its members and are always available in emergencies. Because the lodges are designed for people who need minimal amounts of support to remain independent, on-site staff is limited.

Program Description:

Vinland’s vocational services program is a unique combination of vocational and wellness services designed with one goal in mind — to help people return to work. We offer services to people who have sustained a work-related injury and may or may not have other disabilities that are barriers to employment. All of our participants share a common commitment — the sincere desire to return to work. The program is designed for: Those who can benefit from a more individually-focused program.   People who are genuinely committed to returning to work.   Those who are having difficulty adjusting to a work-related injury or disability.   Individuals who need assistance over-coming multiple barriers to employment.
