Program Description:
TRAINING AND EDUCATION - The foundation is committed to strengthening the ability of the region's communities and organizations to confront problems and issues with good decision-making skills. The foundation believes that skilled leadership is essential to ensue that people retain the ability to create a bright future for the area, as leadership is a key ingredient in implementing constructive change. Youth leadership is delivered through STAR Teams programs for 6th & 7th grade students from the region's school districts.
A total of $300,609 was spent for training and education in FY 2008.

Program Description:
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT - The foundation is committed to improving the quality of life in the northwest region of Minnesota. As a part of that mission, several business development programs are available to promote a high level of economic opportunity in the region. Twenty-six loans funded under the business development programs in FY 2008 and included the following: Small business loans are available for entrepreneurs who have experience, expertise and a well-developed business plan.

ADMINISTRATIVE EXPENSES - The foundation incurred $1,898,137 in administrative costs for delivery of program services. These costs included salaries, fringe benefits, supplies, telephone, postage, travel, overhead, printing, loan losses, loan interest, purchased services, education ans promotion.
