Mission Statement
IAC works to increase immunization rates and prevent disease by creating and distributing educational materials for health professionals and the public that enhance the delivery of safe and effective immunization services. The Coalition also facilitates communication about the safety, efficacy, and use of vaccines within the broad immunization community of patients, parents, health care organizations, and government health agencies.

Dr. Deborah L. Wexler, MD
CEO/Executive Director Statement:
Dr. Wexler, family physician, is the Executive Director and founder of the Immunization Action Coalition (IAC). She is editor of IAC's three print publications, "Needle Tips," "Vaccinate Adults," and "Vaccinate Women," as well as IAC's two electronic news services, "IAC Express" and "Hep Express." She oversees the content of IAC's four websites, www.immunize.org, www.vaccineinformation.org, www.hepprograms.org, and www.izcoalitions.org, and is responsible for the development of approximately 175 immunization education pieces. Dr. Wexler's interest in hepatitis B and immunization grew out of her medical practice delivering health care to Hmong refugees from Southeast Asia as well as providing immunization services in non-traditional settings.

Program Description:
IAC's activities include the publication of three periodicals: "Needle Tips," circulated semi-annually to 100,000-190,000 providers of pediatric immunization services; "Vaccinate Adults," circulated semi-annually to 100,000-150,000 providers of adult immunization services; and "Vaccinate Women," circulated annually to 50,000 healthcare professionals including ACOG members, all OB/Gyn residents, women's health specialists, and others. IAC maintains four websites: www.immunize.org (for health professionals), www.vaccineinformation.org (for patients and parents), www.hepprograms.org (for those interested in viral hepatitis), and www.izcoalitions.org (for immunization coalitions). We offer two free electronic newsletters: "IAC Express," a weekly listserv with news about all immunization and vaccine topics; and "HEP Express," a monthly publication featuring information on the prevention and treatment of viral hepatitis. IAC also creates immunization and hepatitis educational materials for healthcare professionals and patients, available via the websites or CD-ROM.
Program Long-Term Success:
Published and mailed two issues of "Needle Tips" to a combined circulation of 380,000 health professionals, two issues of "Vaccinate Adults" to a combined circulation of 310,000 health professionals, and one issue of "Vaccinate Women" to 50,000 health professionals; and created 29 new print educational pieces and revised 79 others.
