KARL Is The Preferred Partner in Developing Excellence in Agricultural and Rural Leadership. To ensure that the Kansas rural and agricultural community can keep pace with the rate of change, it is imperative we supply informed, decisive, communicative spokespersons to represent our industry and communities, keeping the public factually informed, as policies are formed and decisions are made.  To address these needs we provide an intensive study, training, and travel experience for future leaders of Kansas.

Jack Lindquist was raised on diversified family farm in Marshall County, Kansas and received his degree in Agricultural Education from Kansas State University. His Professional Career has been concentrated on human development and agricultural education activities, including two years as a 4-H Youth Agent for the Dickinson County Extension Service, nearly nine years as a KSU Associate Professor for Agriculture with the Douglas County Extension Service, Lawrence, and since 1990, as President of Kansas Agriculture and Rural Leadership, Inc. and Director of the KARL Program.

CEO/Executive Director Statement:

The KARL Program is a two-year educational experience offering intensive study, training and travel for emerging leaders in agriculture and rural communities.

Funding Needs

The cost of the Kansas Agriculture and Rural Leadership Program is $500,000 per class. This total cost is virtually the same as the $300,000 cost of our first class established in 1991 after adjusting for inflation.


Volunteer Needs

KARL helps maintain and increase the quality of life in Kansas. In order for our children and grandchildren to experience a life as-good-as or better than our own, we must invest now in people that can help make changes ahead more positive and profitable. KARL provides graduates that are those decisive leaders and educators.  Volunteers are appreciated.


Request for In-Kind Contributions

By providing funding or in-kind services for specific seminar events, (breakfast, lunch, dinner, breaks, lodging, or transportation), the contributor will be listed as a Seminar Sponsor , during the seminar. The amounts will vary depending on costs of events during the seminar.

KARL, Inc. Recruiting Class XII Applicants
June 27, 2011
The KARL Board requests assistance in the identification of candidates for KARL Class XII.  To request mailing of application profile forms to your nominee for Class XII (2013 - 2015), contact the office at karl@ksu.edu and send the name and address.  Please put Application Form Request in the subject line.  Forms, available January 1, 2013, are due before April 15, 2013.  We hope to invite all nominees to our summer and fall events to introduce them to alumni, current participants and sponsors so your support now is appreciated.
