Impact Statement Additional Information A Charting Impact Report consists of an organization’s responses to the five questions. Helping validate this self-reported data are three reviews. Once an organization has used the online interface to complete its report, its responses will produce a document with a unique URL that will be shared on this website, on your GuideStar profile, on the reports of charities participating in BBB Wise Giving Alliance evaluations, and – in the future – with other websites and information sources about nonprofits. We encourage organizations to use this URL to share their report on their own website and through their own media channels. Participants will receive guidance about promoting their Charting Impact Report, along with other benefits, once they publish their report.

Our Field Ministry Internships program has trained and mobilized students from 107 universities on 75 teams from 9 countries to serve in 34 nations.

Example: One Carnegie-Mellon U. student who served with us in E. Timor 2003, went on to complete his engineering degree at Stanford, and then helped start up a new social venture company called D.light Design, which created a solar lamp for the 25% of the world who live in darkness, literally. They aim to replace the 1.6 billion kerosene lanterns around the world by 2020.

The SMC’s 12-week training course has helped plant many of these university ministries, including ministries in Colombia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Madagascar, Thailand, Viet Nam, and India.

Chief Executive

Mr. John T Henry

Term:

Since Jan 1998

Chief Executive Profile:

As International Director for the SMC, I am responsible for all aspects of a Centre's operations worldwide including spiritual leadership, academic affairs, strategic planning, reliable administration, effective outreach and accountability of all personnel and resources.

CEO/Executive Director Statement:

This past year has been another important year with significant developments and exciting plans for the future. The Student Mobilization Centre (SMC) has entered a fast paced growth pattern. A few years ago the SMC went through a major strategy review and analysis of programs, much of which had been driven by the continuing studies of various members of the SMC International Committee.

During the past two years, the SMC has led four Schools of University Ministries & Missions (SUMM) on three continents: USA & INDIA (Jan. 2010), KOREA (June 2010), and COLOMBIA (Jan. 2011). This surge of training is producing several new YWAM SMC staff and projects in new locations, as the SUMM in Thailand in 2008 had produced five new university ministries (3 in Thailand, 1 in Vietnam, and 1 in India.)

School of University Ministries & Mission starts in Cartagena, Colombia
January 26, 2011

Dear Friends,

We have just finished 2nd week and already we feel the heaviness of the impact God has placed upon us. John Henry, SMC Int'l Director informed us of the history of Student Volunteer Movement and divine implication on our call in Latin American setting.

We began to recognize that in order to bring a movement we need men and women of God who is willing to go for a long haul... and people began to weep by confessing their fear and sense of insecurity over the challenge. It was so heavy nobody wanted to go for the lunch but remained in the presence of God. Until one by one declared "We will break all other  arrows." It was an awesome time of reflection and commitment.

Please continue to pray and give for the school. Thus far, we have raised 10,500 US dollars for the school so far and only about 8,000 dollar short to be able to run this school. We are so grateful for people who gave so generously.

Please write Colombia Mission on Designation line)

Thank you so much for standing by us,

John Hwang
