Mission Statement
The Kenya Education Fund (KEF) is an international nonprofit organization that provides disadvantaged students in Kenya, and their schools, with support and educational resources so that they may improve their communities and break the cycle of poverty in Kenya. Many people do not realize that high school in developing countries is not free. In Kenya, both public and private high schools cost hundreds of dollars in tuition, boarding, and supplies each year. This means roughly three-quarters all of Kenyans - many of them girls – cannot complete high school because they are poor. The KEF is dedicated to helping underprivileged Kenyans improve their lives by giving them the opportunity to finish high school and acquire the skills they need to be healthy and successful members of our global community.

Impact Statement
The Kenya Education Fund currently supports 500 students enrolled in over 220 high schools and universities across Kenya. In 2010, 151 KEF students graduated from high school. Since the KEF and NKCEF started, we have jointly enabled more than 850 students to graduate from high school in the past 9 years. Statistics alone, however, do not fully convey our success. By providing access to education in Kenya, the KEF is gradually changing a Kenyan narrative historically marked by cycles of despair, injustice and poverty. Although this brand of success is not easily measured, its results can be seen in the pride of the student who is the first in her family to attend high school, or in the many girls who have avoided early marriages and female circumcision because of the opportunity to attend and complete high school. KEF success is also evident in the dignity that our graduates bring to their families and their villages when they return home after completing high school or college. As these graduates eventually raise families of their own, the value and benfits of an education are passed on to the next generation. The ripple affect of educating one student is immeasurable.
