Mission Statement

Educating homeless ethnic minority Montagnard students as leaders, teachers, and activists to stop the destruction of their tropical forest ecosystem and culture in northeast Cambodia.

Impact Statement

Western environmental, village development, and human rights nonprofits are trying to build the capacity of the Montagnard highlander tribes to deal with the plunder. These programs would be far more effective if staffed by Montagnards but until recently none had a college degree. When needing university-educated employees, the nonprofits have had to hire ethnic Cambodians from the lowlands who lack empathy and can’t speak highlander languages.

In 2003 to ramp up the effectiveness of these nonprofits we started a domestic university scholarship program for homeless Montagnard students. We provide all support necessary plus housing in our Indigenous Student Center in Phnom Penh.

Upon graduation they return to the northeast Cambodia and greatly improve the pro highlander nonprofit programs.

Funding Needs

There are no grants in Cambodia for higher education.  We depend on individual contributors.

Contributions however in 2009 and 2010 declined significantly and we had to reduce the intake of new freshmen.  Presently we only have 15 students total in AA, BS, and MD curriculums hence we’re operating at 60% capacity.

With an average annual cost per student (tuition & living expenses) of $2300, each incremental increase in revenue by that amount will enable us to add a new freshman.

Volunteer Needs

It would greatly reduce my workload to find a Webmaster and Fund Raiser.
