Previously vice president for Saxelbye Architects and senior project manager for Adams Project Management Consulting, Wayne Rieley has been involved with LSS as a volunteer since 1993, when he joined the board of directors, serving in leadership roles including board president and development committee chair. He has lived in Jacksonville for 25 years. A member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jacksonville, Wayne has served on its congregational council as president and a member of two call committees. He has also served on the advisory board of the Children?s Enrichment Workshop, an ecumenical program targeting at-risk children in the Riverside area.

Program Description:

We distribute recovered food to help people who are hungry through our Second Harvest Food Bank. We help people who come to us as refugees start a new life in our community through the Refugee & Immigrant Services Program. We work with people who are HIV-positive or living with AIDS to keep them healthy as long as possible and provide prevention education through our AIDS Care & Education Program. We provide financial management to people who cannot manage their finances due to chronic mental illness and/or substance abuse or due to their age through our Representative Payee Program. We distribute food and water to victims in areas affected by natural disaster, hand out emergency food to evacuees coming to Jacksonville, distribute extra food to our member agencies serving evacuees, and help evacuees identify other resources in the area to help them rebuild their lives.

Program Long-Term Success:

Distributed nearly 8 million pounds of food to more than 400 member agencies serving hungry people in 17 Northeast Florida counties
